National Task Force Producers plan turnaround:

Monday, 14th of March 2011. The producers of "National Task Force" have said they have revise a plan for the project, and are confident they will enter production by end of 2011. The action/comedy was put on hold following the departure of Brendan O'Carroll in September of last year. A company spokesperson said that the script was being rewritten and producers are currently considering a new director.

Brendan O'Carroll exits National Task Force:

Wednesday, 29th of September 2010. Irish comedian Brendan O'Carroll has confirmed that he is no longer attached to "National Task Force". The Mrs. Brown star was set to direct and star in the 3 million euro Irish production told producers he is no longer committed to the project due to developments elsewhere. This is the second major hit the project has taken in recent months, however producers have said the project is not dead in the water. Plans to turn the project around have been underway since news came in July that Colin Farrell was not attaching. Producers have now said they will be meeting shortly to discuss plans to completely revive the project starting with approaching a new director.

National Task Force in turnaround for 2011:

Wednesday, 21st of July 2010. Shadowhawk Entertainment executives have said that "National Task Force" will still go ahead despite news that Irish actor Colin Farrell will not be attaching to the project. Farrell was one of the key actors producers had banked on for the project. Speaking this morning Keith McDonnell said: "It is disappointing news, we had hoped to secure Colin, but that's the entertainment business, always full of surprises. We do appreciate that Colin took the time to read and consider the project. This does delay plans to put the project into production this year, but producers have confirmed they plan to begin production early 2011, and other actors are currently being considered for the role".

Brendan O'Carroll joins National Task Force: 

Tuesday, 27th of May 2008. Irish comedian, writer and director Brendan O'Carroll is in final negotiations with executives at Shadowhawk to director and star in National Task Force. The Mrs. Brown star met with producers in Dublin this week and expressed his interest in becoming involved in the project. Speaking about Mr. O'Carroll a source at Shadowhawk said: "Brendan has been one of the main people we wanted to attach to this project, and we are VERY pleased that he is keen on becoming involved, we look forward to working with him".

Anthony Whelan to produce National Task Force: 

Monday, 10th of December 2007. Anthony Whelan has signed to produce "National Task Force" which is being set for production next year. Whelan (28) is currently producing "Sleeper" a British spy film is now said to be looking forward to producing National Task Force.

 

Anthony Whelan is rumoured to be considering approaching Maurice O'Callaghan to director the project, although this has not yet been confirmed. No information on cast is available at present but a short list regarding the main characters is said to have been drawn up.

Derek Furlong hired to rewrite screenplay:

 

Wednesday, 12th of September 2007. Irish writer Derek Furlong has been hired to rewrite the screenplay for "National Task Force" that was original written by Anthony Whelan. Shadowhawk Chief Creative Officer, Martin White who hired Derek said "Anthony's original screenplay is brilliant and quiet funny, however I felt the characters in the story needed more development. After speaking with Anthony about this we both felt it best to bring in another writer".

 

Derek Furlong is due to complete the screenplay for "National Task Force" by early November 2007 at which point a decision regarding the project will be made.
